German (customs) terminology

There is always something you do not know abt abvtns (about abbreviations) and whe ndealing with international transport we use them a lot!

Here are some findings in relation to German customs you may find useful.

German (customs) terminology

BHT – customs reference for Export and Transhipment (TS) units in Bremerhaven

  • Export = arranged by customer
  • TS = arranged by cargo team

WHT – customs reference for Export and TS units in Wilhelmshaven

  • Export = arranged by customer
  • TS = arranged by cargo team

Z-number – Export customs reference in Hamburg = arranged by customer

B- or S-number – TS customs reference in Hamburg = arranged by shipping line cargo team

ATB – import customs reference needed for all units discharged in any German port – arranged by shipping line cargo team
